For study and inspiration, library patrons can use the PressReader database, which makes newspapers and popular magazines from all around the world accessible. The database offers over 7000 titles with full texts in 60 languages from 120 countries. Online titles are available on the day of publication, and most of them have an archive of the last three issues.
The varied offer includes periodicals of various fields and disciplines. For example, you can find the Washington Post, Forbes, Vogue, Rolling Stone, Empire, or Vanity Fair. The database also includes Czech titles such as Lidové noviny, Respekt and Hospodářské noviny.
Access is possible from the MU network (at Masaryk University buildings) or from home using remote VPN access. The OpenVPN application allows you to connect via a computer, but also via a mobile phone or a tablet. All you have to do is download the PressReader application and start the VPN on your device.
Another option is to create a PressReader account in the application, which also retains the user's preferences. Then all you have to do is authenticate in the Masaryk University network (using VPN, single MU login from the e-resource portal) and the service then works anywhere for the reader after logging in, for up to 7 days. After that you need to authenticate again.
