Information Register of R&D results (RIV)
We coordinate, continuously monitor, and facilitate the collection of publication records for the national Register of Information on Research Output (RIV) for the entire faculty. We provide training, support materials, and individual consultations. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
How is data transferred to RIV?
- Authors create publication records themselves (or they can delegate this task to someone else) in the Publications application.
- We continuously check records marked for transfer to RIV and lock them after checking to prevent any changes before transfer. We make minor adjustments ourselves and contact the authors if anything is unclear. If you need to edit a locked record, please contact us.
- The checked records are transferred once a year (between March and May), they cover the period of the last five years and the entire university.
- Before the results are made public, they are checked and approved by the funding providers.
Why is data being transferred to RIV
- As a research organization under Act No. 69/2025 Coll., on the support of research, development, innovation, and knowledge transfer, we are required to submit records of research results to RIV. This applies to certain types of scientific results that meet the definitions.
- We do not submit so-called small letters linked to internal funding (subsidy for development of research institution, specific university research project); it is sufficient to record them in the Publications application.
- The submitted results are evaluated according to Methodology 17+, which is one of the basic conditions for the provision of institutional funds for research and development.
- At the faculty level, the data serves as a basis for the allocation of publication grants and for compiling the publication section of the budget.
When to create a publication record
- The author can create a publication record as soon as they have confirmation that the result will be published. However, they must not mark it for transfer to RIV until it is fully published – for example, an article must be included in a specific issue of a journal; Early Access, Online First, etc. are not sufficient.
- It is possible to submit results up to five years later; for example, when submitting in spring 2025, the results could be from as late as 2020. Nevertheless, we recommend not delaying the marking of the result for transfer so that it is not forgotten.
What must be included in a record for transfer to RIV
- The result meets the definition according to the Definition of Result Types or according to the Small Dictionary of Small Letters.
- In the case of small letters, the result is linked to external funding. We do not report small letters with internal funding (subsidy for development of research institution, specific university research project) to RIV.
- The record meets the formal requirements according to the Publications application help.
- The scientific field is filled in to the Detailed Ford level (the numerical code does not end with a zero).
- The article has already been published and is included in a specific issue of the journal. Early Access, Online First, etc. cannot be reported.
- If the result is indexed in the relevant database, the UT WOS and/or Scopus EID identifier is provided. If the journal is indexed and the issue has not yet been processed, the placeholder 999 is provided.
- The connection to the project or large research infrastructure is correctly stated.
Filling in contributions to publications for doctoral publication scholarship
The Contribution is information about the contribution of individual internal authors to the creation of a given result, expressed as a percentage. The contribution can be entered in the Publications application and, among other things, serves as a basis for awarding publication scholarships to doctoral students.
Which records will be used as a basis for awarding scholarships?
The result must meet all the conditions listed.
- Results created since 2025.
- Results with a share for the FF workplace, filled in at the author level.
- Results marked and confirmed for transfer to RIV.
When to fill in the Contributions?
We recommend not delaying finishing the records. Records will be downloaded on the following dates:
- October 30, 2025
- February 28, 2026
- June 30, 2026
How is the scholarship calculated?
The categories of research results have a point value in the Internal methodology for budgetary evaluation of publication results at FoA MU, with one point corresponding to CZK 200. The currently valid category weights are applied, which are available on the document server; select the current file váhy_kategorii (only in Czech).
