human-centered services
Our users and staff form the core of the Central Library. The support of studies and scholarly work for more than 8,000 students and 500 staff members of the Faculty of Arts is provided by a team of experts with an educational background in library studies and humanities. In 2024 the library received Bibliotheca inspirans award for taking care of its staff.

We address different needs in education and research – from individual study and consultations, through group educational lessons and workshops, to the opportunity to develop knowledge with the help of technology. We offer a place for study as well as a technological background.

over 600,000 documents and 100 databases
We offer a large number of printed books and journals, mainly in the field of humanities, located in the open-access collection, closed stacks and in departmental libraries. We take part in ensuring access to high-quality electronic resources in the humanities.

individual and group work and study
The library can be found in two buildings on the premises of the Faculty of Arts at Arna Nováka 1. You can find places for individual study, such as comfortable armchairs and places at desks with or without a computer, in the main library building. There are group study rooms and a staff group workspace in building D. There is also a self-service kitchenette available in both buildings.
Architecture
implementation 2000–2001
The main building of the Central Library of the MU Faculty of Arts was built according to the design of the academic architect Ladislav Kuba and Ing. Tomáš Pilař, M.A. and opened in 2002. The building won a number of awards: Grand Prix of the Society of Czech Architects 2002, Interior of the Year 2002 Award, 2002 Award of the Union of Visual Artists of the Czech Republic, Award of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.
History
1960 Central Library
The Central Library of the MU Faculty of Arts has come a long way since its establishment. Over the years, the small Library Centre has become a modern, progressive institution and at the same time has been traditionally perceived as the heart of the Faculty of Arts.
