Library in the autumn semester: information not only for new students

5 Oct 2020

Upcoming semester is not going to be a regular one, and it may not be easy to get to know how the university and library function. The situation may change over time; you will find the up-to-date information here on our website in the news section or our Facebook page. In case of any uncertainties, do not hesitate to contact us at knihovna@phil.muni.cz

From October 30, only the pick-up place for ordered books is accessible. Other services are available online.

Opening hours

Register in the library

You can't borrow books without registration and ISIC (or other student or employee chip card). We highly recommend you register online; just one click to conclude library service agreement: https://inet.muni.cz/app/knihovny/prihlaska?app.setlang=EN

All about registration

Borrowing and returning of books, journals, board games and more

Right now, there are no restrictions concerning circulation services.

You can search for books in advance in the online catalogue, where you can also see their location in the library building. You have to request books located in the closed stacks collection via the catalogue. The requested books will be ready within 20 minutes during the library's opening hours.

You can borrow books at the Registration and circulation desk on the ground floor, or you can use the Self-check machine. You can later return the books at the same desk, or by throwing them in one of the Book Drops (at the entrance to the faculty premises or at the gatehouse).

You can not check out books with In-house loan status – you have to study or scan them in the library.

Staying in the library

You don't have to be registered to enter the library and study there. Study rooms in the main library building are currently accessible only to Masaryk University students and employees. All MU buildings are closed for the public including family members, with an exception for small children in necessary cases.

From October 12, it is no longer possible to study in the library. Please do not stay in the study rooms longer than necessary.

All about study rooms equipment

On all four library floors, there are individual study spaces and also several computers. You can also connect to the internet on your device via Eduroam network.

All about internet connection

There are multifunctional devices for printing, copying and scanning on the ground floor. To be able to use them, you have to activate your SUPO account. Without SUPO, you can use scanners located in each of the study rooms.

What about the Reading Room and Group Study Rooms?

Both spaces are currently unavailable. We are hoping to make them available soon.
