Location numbers of materials in the open access (study rooms)
- location number of books consists of the UDC symbols, followed by the first four letters of the author's surname or the book title, followed by the identification number of each particular title
e.g. 820b-SHAK1-3 (820b → British literature; SHAK1 → Shakespeare, William; -3 → the book “All's well that ends well” )
- location number of journals consists of the UDC symbols followed by the first four letters of the journal title
e.g. 159.9=JOUR (159.9 → Psychology; JOUR → “Journal of social and clinical psychology”) |
Range of location numbers at study rooms
- ground floor: 0 - 179
- 1st floor: 2 - 809.56
- 2nd floor: 82- 840
- 3rd floor: 840b - 990
Help:
- library materials at study rooms are arranged in subject classified order based on Universal Decimal Classification (UDC)
- UDC organizes all knowledge into 10 main classes (0-9), each class is divided into 10 subclasses... etc.
- subject classes are arranged from the ground floor upward in the library
